LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - Two Laredo Catholic schools who have educated generations of kids could be on their way to closing their doors.
Parents who send their children to Saint Peters Elementary and Our Lady of Guadalupe have been growing concerned that the schools may be unable to keep their doors open.
For several years, both schools have seen their enrollment numbers decline.
Saint Peters Elementary school currently has approximately 120 students enrolled while Guadalupe has about 80.
Those low numbers have made it financially difficult for the schools to remain viable.
Our Lady of Guadalupe reportedly did not have enough money to pay its teachers or even meet last year’s budget.
Some have said that the Diocese has done little to help keep the schools financially stable.
