LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - City officials along with members of the private sector are back from their legislative trip to Washington D.C.
The three-day visit was filled with various important meetings such as immigration reform, the U.S., Mexico, Canada Agreement, Infra Grant, the Detox Center and creating a Department of Homeland Security Hub in Laredo.
During the trip, city officials met with U.S. Senator John Cornyn, U.S. Representative Steve Scalise, Senator Ted Cruz and many more.
Mayor Pete Saenz says the topic that sparked interest from both the Democrats and Republicans was the city’s proposed bulked wall.
Saenz says the project could cost approximately 217 million dollars.
The price tag on the trip to Washington was between $70,000 to $80,000 not including Laredo Day.
Mayor Saenz says these trips are worth the investment to be able to bring important projects to our city.
