After receiving a grant, members of a local law enforcement agency will soon be receiving body-worn cameras.
With a grant of over $22,000, the Webb County Sheriff's Office will be purchasing the cameras.
This comes after local and national events involving police officers have ended in tragedy, lessening the public's trust in law enforcement agencies.
"The sheriff is highly concerned that we can be transparent, and of course, be committed to the public trust of our community," says Federico Garza, of the Webb County Sheriff's Office. "As we've seen the trends out there nowadays with cameras, a lot of times the cameras will tell the story of what happened."
The Sheriff's Department will provide a 25 percent cash match for the grant.
