LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - A Webb County employee has filed a lawsuit against his now former boss.
Ricardo Rick Romo worked for Webb County Attorney Marco Montemayor.
He was the lead investigator for the office for five years but last year he was terminated from his position.
In the lawsuit, Romo says he was let go because he wanted to run for office for the position of Webb County Constable Precinct One.
The lawsuit also indicates that Montemayor knew and gave him the greenlight to run for office.
According to court documents, Romo is asking for his job back along with backpay.
The county employee’s attorney says there are currently ongoing negotiations that are confidential at the moment.
