LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- The Downtown Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone Board has met to decided what projects they will be working on this year.
They walked down Zaragoza Street between Salinas and San Augustine and agreed that Zaragoza Street should be the first target to address.
The board aims to improve walkability, security, and lighting in that area of downtown.
Now the city will collect information from that area for the next 30 days.
That area has already seen some work, with all electricity moved underground.
Last year the TIRZ board collected about 250 thousand dollars. They will have about half a million to use towards this block.
A rough estimation for the project is about 500 thousand per block.
