A look at the FBI raid one year later
It’s been a year since the City of Laredo and Webb County was raided by the FBI as part of an investigation.
Mayor Pete Saenz says the City of Laredo has been working towards a more responsive and transparent local government.
Exactly one year ago, the FBI visited City Hall and the Webb County Courthouse.
In order to obtain documents that focus on Dannenbaum Engineering as it pertains to the city.
Mayor Saenz says he’s contacted the FBI on numerous occasions for any form of update but they have not disclosed any details.
Saenz says he would like to leave this embarrassing incident in the past so they can move forward with a clean slate.
The mayor says, "It's a good lesson too for us. I think we can all learn from the fact that it was embarrassing but if things need to be changed this is the time to change them. Hopefully the city can elevate and rise to a better level of performance and better level of behavior as well, there at council, management, and wherever that change needs to occur."
During the raid, the FBI searched for computer hard drives, floppy disks, photographs, bank records, modems, receipts for domestic and international travel, jewelry and much more.
KGNS did reach out to the FBI for an update but they said there’s no information they can provide at this time.
