LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Now that fall is officially underway, that means it’s time for harvesting season.
Normally, in other parts of the country, it’s common to start planting in the spring and summer months; but here in south Texas, we plant in the fall, and winter season.
The Urban Agriculture and Forestry Division of Laredo is inviting community members to its fall harvesting event at the Canseco House this weekend.
Harvesting experts will be on hand to explain some of the techniques that go into planting the perfect fruits and greens.
Techniques involve how to properly prepare the soil, cleaning the greens and the perfect area for sunlight.
The event will be taking place on Sunday at the Canseco House located at 1415 Chihuahua Street from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m.
There are only a limited amount of spaces, so be sure to reserve your spot immediately.
The event is open to all ages.
