Fire officials prepare for inclement weather

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - The Laredo Fire Department is getting ready for the heavy rainfall expected to appear in our area.

According to our weather forecast, we will be expecting scattered thunderstorms on Friday, Saturday and possibly even on Sunday.

First responders and law enforcement will be out in full force patrolling the streets to make sure motorists and residents are safe.

Local fire officials are urging the community to heed the warnings and take precautions from the inclement weather.

Officials are also reminding residents to stay off the roads during thunderstorms due to the possibility of flooding.

If you are out driving always remember, turn around don’t drown and not to drive through flooded areas.

With thunderstorms also comes the possibility of power outages.
Experts would like to remind residents to have flashlights and battery powered fans handy in case the power goes out.

The rain is expected to stay with us throughout the weekend and into early next week.
