5th grader designs app for his school

LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- Technology in the classroom is molding young minds to think in the future.

One student from Farias Elementary School is applying what he's learned towards assisting his school.

What started out as an idea turned into an opportunity for Farias Elementary 5th grader Edgar Camacho to use his skills towards creating a tool that his school can take advantage of.

Edgar saw a lack of parent notifications at his school that he believes could be solved with some easy to use technology.

The project took on a life of its own and soon became an app that his teachers and principal are very proud of.

The app features the principal's mission statement, contact information for administrators and teachers, and a few pictures of what happened along his journey.

With help from the district, Camacho hopes to make this app accessible for public use and maybe implement it at other schools.
