Laredo PD agrees to expand research collaborations

LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- The Laredo Police Department and TAMIU put pen to paper as they sign an agreement creating greater opportunities for community research, grant writing, and internships.

This initiative will allow the university to develop a deeper understanding of police-community relations.

For the Police Department, this agreement will provide an opportunity for feedback from citizens on concerns they have and service they would like to see from the department.

TAMIU Professor of Public Administration and Government Dr. Peter Haruna says they took a year to work on the final agreement document. Which he says is actually a high-quality agreement.

After two years they will review the memorandum of understanding to see if they want to make any changes or keep it as it.
