LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - For the fourth year in a row, LISD’s Early College High School is ranked among the best high schools in the nation.
Hector J. Garcia Early College High School was named the 164th best high school in the nation and 33rd in the State of Texas.
The school is also one of 73 schools that earned the National Gold Medal.
Earlier this year they were recognized by the U.S. Department of Education as Laredo’s only National Blue Ribbon School.
Principal Israel Garcia says, "It just gives us that motivation to continue and to ensure that our students are being given opportunities they deserve."
The schools were awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals based on their student graduation rate, performance in state assessments and college-readiness.
The Early College High School allows students to earn up to 60 hours of college with tuition and books provided by LISD while working toward high school graduation.
Congratulations to the school on this honor.
