Second man arrested in connection to city's tenth homicide case

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Another arrest is made in connection to the city’s tenth homicide case where one man was found dead with gunshot wounds and another was critically injured.

Nineteen-year-old Victor Sauceda was arrested and charged with murder and aggravated assault.

Sauceda is the second person to be arrested in this case so far and police are also looking for a third suspect identified as 20-year-old Hector Rivera Jr.

Last Friday, Laredo Police were called out to a shooting at the 800 block of Saunders at around 2 a.m.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men inside a black Chrysler with gunshot wounds at the corner of Logan Avenue.

Police found 24-year-old Jose Jesus Martinez in the backseat with multiple gunshot wounds and 25-year-old Lesther Julian Castro Jr. in the driver’s seat with a shot to the arm and abdomen.

Martinez was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead a short while later; meanwhile, Castro was flown to a San Antonio hospital.

Later on Friday night, authorities were able to canvass the area and after speaking to several witnesses they determined that Norberto Adame Rivera was one of the persons of interest in the case.

Rivera was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Throughout the course of the investigation, detectives gathered information from several witnesses and determined that they had enough evidence to secure an arrest warrant for Sauceda.

A man is arrested in connection to what Laredo Police are calling the city’s tenth homicide case.

Laredo Police arrested 21-year-old Norberto Adame Rivera in the case.

According to the police department, officers received a call on November 2nd at around 2 a.m. regarding shots fired near the 800 block of Olive Street and intersection of McClelland Avenue and Travis Street.

When officers arrived at the scene, they found two men inside a black Chrysler with gunshot wounds at the corner of Logan Avenue.

Police found a 24-year-old man in the backseat with multiple gunshot wounds and a 25-year-old man in the driver’s seat with a shot to the arm and abdomen.

Twenty-four-year-old Jose Jesus Martinez was rushed to a local hospital but was pronounced dead a short while later.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old, identified as Lesther Julian Castro Jr. was flown to a San Antonio hospital.

Later on Friday night, authorities were able to canvass the area and after speaking to several witnesses they determined that Rivera was the sole person of interest in the case.

Rivera was charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Rivera was taken to the Webb County Jail on a $475,000 bond set by Judge L. Martinez.

Authorities are still investigating the case.

The Laredo Police Department is investigating what they are calling the city’s 9th homicide case.

According to police, the incident happened on November second at around 2 a.m. when officers received a call about a possible shooting near the 800 block of Saunders.

When officers arrived they found two men with gunshot wounds at the intersection of Logan Avenue and Saunders.

One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene.

The other victim was taken to a San Antonio hospital and was listed as critical condition.

Authorities say they are calling it the ninth homicide case but this is the 10th victim.

The identity of the victim has not been released pending the notification of next of kin.

Police are still investigating the case.
