LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - The National Weather Service is designating the City of Laredo as a “Storm Ready” community for the third time in a row.
The city first got designated back in 2013, but continue to reapply and meet the criteria set by the news.
The emergency management plans set by the city are considered to be very comprehensive and advanced.
To be storm ready, there are several things you need including, an emergency operation center, a 911 center and most importantly, a way to monitor weather warnings.
NWA Warning Coordination Meteorologist John Metz says there are not that many communities with that designation.
The National Weather Service is warning the community that severe weather often starts during the month of March and ends in May.
Weather experts encourage everyone to take emergency weather alerts seriously and to be prepared.
