LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - The attorney representing a Border Patrol agent arrested in the murder of a mother and her one-year-old son is speaking out about his client.

28-year-old Ronald Anthony Burgos Aviles

Attorney Silverio Martinez says it’s too early to comment on the specifics of the case, but says his client knows the charges are serious.

Twenty-eight-year-old Ronald Anthony Burgos Aviles who had been a Border Patrol agent for nine years is charged with two counts of capital murder.

Burgos Aviles was arrested on Monday shortly after the bodies of 27-year-old Grizelda Hernandez and her one-year-old son Dominick Alexander Hernandez were found on Monday in northeast Laredo.

Police say both victims showed visible signs of physical abuse.

Silverio Martinez says there’s not much he can comment at this time.

Martinez says, “At this point in time I cannot comment. I do not know enough about the evidence, enough about the facts. The only thing I know from what was reported is that he was on duty at the time the report was made. Other than that it’s too soon for me to comment.”

Martinez goes on to say his client will be requesting a bond and they will be preparing for the first hearing.

We’re told the autopsies are being performed on both victims by the Nueces County Medical Examiner but no other details are being released at this moment.
