DPS ramping up enforcement of the Move Over Slow Down Law

LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- Throughout the month of December, DPS Troopers will be ramping up the enforcement of the state's Move Over Slow Down Law.

The law requires motorists to switch lanes or reduce their speed when certain vehicles are stopped on the side of the road.

Violators could face possible jail time and a fine of up to 2 thousand dollars if an incident results in bodily injury.

DPS Troopers stress the importance of following this law and say safety is the number one priority.

in 2017, DPS issued more than 10-thousand warnings and citations to motorists violating the Move Over Slow Down Law.
