LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - Kids from Webb County’s foster program got a chance to get a firsthand look at what a real trial looks like.
Judge Selina Mireles held a mock trial on Monday at the CPS Courthouse for the youngsters.
The kids were able to learn about the legal consequences and how to overcome obstacles in their life.
In this trial the kids were able to participate and play in the different roles that are present during a trial such as the judge, defendant and the jury.
The children also got to hear from three speakers that spoke to them about the importance of achieving personal goals in life.
Judge Mireles hopes that the kids learn that they are appreciated in the community.
Mireles also hopes to start a program where children in the foster programs can get recognized for their academic achievements.
