Recently in our city we have had two house fires that have been linked to electrical issues.

This can be a big problem if the proper safety measures are not taken.

This is why May is known as National Electrical Safety Month a time where the National Protection Association and local officials stress the importance of electrical safety.

The Laredo Fire Department wants to make sure that everyone checks that their wall plugs and smoke detectors are working properly.

They should also be on the lookout for any wiring that might be fragile or worn out and of course, if there is a burning smell from an appliance you should cut off the power and contact a local official.
