LAREDO, Texas (KGNS) - City officials have decided to look into the ongoing pollution issue at the Rio Grande.
Nuevo Laredo Mayor Enrique Rivas says the problem is coming from the wastewater treatment plant in his city.
According to Rivas, the equipment at the plant is outdated.
Rivas said they are in the process of renovating the facility to prevent more sewage from being dumped into the river.
According to the Rio Grande International Study Center, the Nuevo Laredo plant dumps around six million gallons of raw sewage a day.
