LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - It’s been a dangerous couple of days in our sister city, as violence erupts all throughout Nuevo Laredo.
Residents in Nuevo Laredo took cover as gunfire was heard in various parts of the city.
Violence between rival organizations has increased over the past several days as an apparent turf war has broken out between major groups.
Videos on social media show people hiding and running for safety as groups drove around town shooting high power weapons.
On Sunday the head of one of the prisons was gunned down while driving down a Nuevo Laredo street.
The violence is also affecting the Mexican League Baseball.
El Manana is reporting that the teams scheduled to play the Tecos at La Junta Park in Nuevo Laredo are refusing to make the trip to Nuevo Laredo.
