Border Patrol agent accused of murdering four women appears in court

LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- Things got heated on Thursday afternoon as the Border Patrol agent accused of murdering four people pleaded not guilty in front of a judge.

During the arraignment of Juan David Ortiz, the mother Melissa Ramirez broke out screaming as she came face to face with Ortiz for the first time.

Back in December the district attorney presented Ortiz's case to the grand jury.

The result, an indictment for one charge of capital murder against Ortiz.

The grand jury also warranted the death penalty for the death of four women, Melissa Ramirez, Griselda Cantu, Claudine Luera, and Humberto "Janelle" Ortiz.

Ortiz is also facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawful restraint, and evading arrest.
