Outlet Shoppes kicks off "Puerto Educativo" initiative

Texas A&M International University partnered up with local businesses over the weekend to promote education.

The university held its "Puerto Educativo" event at the Outlet Shoppes of Laredo on Saturday.

The initiative focused on two subjects, literacy as well as numbers.

TAMIU says it's an effort to help parents create a learning environment for their children with the goal of making a strong foundation of learning together as a family.

Similar events will be held in the coming months and will feature subjects like mathematics, physical activities, and social skills.
