President Trump declares 'Crisis' in oval office address

(NBC) - Democrats and Republicans head back to the White House Wednesday, seeking a compromise on border security to get the government running, and ensure 800,000 federal workers get paid Friday.

Democrats are in an impasse with President Trump over whether taxpayers should pay more than $5 billion for a wall at the Mexico border.

Mr. Trump made an appeal to build what he now calls a steel barrier during his first Oval Office address Tuesday night, but Democrats are opposed to any type of wall, no matter what it's made of.

In an effort to reach some sort of compromise, Democrats will meet with the president later today before he heads to the border on Thursday.
