TAMIU students paint nails to raise awareness on sexual assault

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Some people traded TAMIU’s traditional maroon color for teal on Monday to help bring awareness to sexual assault.

The university is participating in Sexual Assault Awareness Month, which is a national movement to end such crimes on college campuses.

The event, “Put a Nail in It” was sponsored by the League of Empowered Women.

The event featured a manicure station where participants had a fingernail painted in the color teal to show their support for the cause.

Sponsors of the event say these types of activities educate students about the resources that are available to bring awareness to the issue that is often closeted.
