The City of Rio Bravo will be operating without a police chief for the next two weeks.

According to the Rio Bravo Mayor, Francisco Peña, Chief Rene Cervantes did not show up to the monthly meeting, resulting in a two week suspension.

According to Chief Cervantes’ attorney, actions the city has taken in the last couple of months are a breach of his contract.

Cervantes’ attorney says they have sent out a letter to the city outlining the problems. If those issues are not addressed, Cervantes’ attorney says they could be looking into filing a lawsuit.

Coming up on KGNS News at Ten, we’ll hear from Rio Bravo’s mayor and chief Cervantes’ attorney on the matter.
