Seven illegal immigrants arrested in McAllen mall robbery

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - Seven men are arrested for allegedly attempting to rob a jewelry store in McAllen over the weekend.

On Saturday afternoon seven men who were determined to be undocumented immigrants and living in the U.S. illegally walked into La Plaza Mall and attempted to steal items from a jewelry store.

The incident caused chaos after shoppers heard what they thought were shots fired, but were later revealed to be the sounds of broken glass.

Rumors also began to circulate online saying that there was an active shooter at the mall.

Luckily no one was injured in the incident.

Those arrested were Zepeda Abner Posos, Raul Alberto Rangel-Rivera, Miguel Quintanila-Cardenas, Jorge Angel Rodriguez Mejia, Javier Leobardo Olvera-Ramirez, Brayan Oliver Melchor, and Alberto Rafael Barrera.

All of the men have been charged with aggravated robbery and have received a $200,000 bond.
