UPDATE: Off-duty CBP employee charged with murder in alleged shooting death

A man is arrested after an alleged shooting leaves one man dead.

Ernesto Gillen, age 43, was detained in the investigation and charged with murder after it was determined that a domestic altercation led up to the shooting death of 42-year-old Guadalupe David De Luna.

On Wednesay, April 15th at approximately 10:20 p.m. a 911 call was made by a woman reporting a shooting at an apartment located at 6800 Springfield.

Upon arrival, officers discovered a man with an apparent gunshot wound, later identified as Guadalupe David De Luna. The Laredo Fire Department arrived at the location and it was determined that the victim had passed away at the scene.

It was determined that a domestic altercation led up to the death of the victim, whereas Ernesto Gillen was detained in the investigation.

Gillen was transported to Webb County Jail in lieu of no bond.

At the time of the incident, Guadalupe David De Luna was an off-duty firefighter and Ernesto Gillen was an off-duty United States Customs and Border Protection Employee.

The Laredo Police Department is investigating an alleged shooting that resulted in one person dead.

The incident was reported on Wednesday night at around 10 p.m. at an apartment complex located at the 6800 block of Springfield Avenue.

Officers, fire officials, and paramedics filled the parking lot.

Officials did confirm one person was dead.

When reaching out to Laredo Fire Chief Steve Landin regarding Wednesday night’s incident, he confirmed that Guadalupe De Luna, a 21-year- veteran with the department had passed away.

The chief expressed his condolences to his family, friends as well as the fire department.

Landin asked members of the media to the Laredo Police Department regarding the ongoing investigation.
