Update: Suspect arrested in Flying J shooting
According to police the alleged shooter in Wednesday's shooting near the Flying J Travel Center is a family nurse practitioner.
Forty-four-year-old Jose Luis Milera works at the clinic right behind the gas station.
Police say when they were able to detain him, he was taken to the hospital for evaluation and then was put under arrest.
Milera is now facing 3 charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Police say when they arrived, Milera allegedly shot at the officers.
Law enforcement immediately evacuated the area.
Then the swat team and negotiators arrived at the scene and were able to arrest Milera.
Police say no officer discharged their weapon during the incident.
They did say Milera was in an altered emotional state and are not sure why he was shooting.
Police responded to an incident near the Flying J located at mile marker 13 on I-35, a little after 8 Wednesday evening.
When police arrived they were notified that there was a man who had entered the clinic behind the truck stop and that he had a gun and was firing shots.
Police evacuated the Flying J as a precaution and were able to make contact with the man and take him into custody.
We're told swat team and police negotiators were also on the scene.
Police say no one was injured and no officers fired their weapons.
