CORPUS CHRISTI, TX (NBC) - A fisherman in south Texas made the catch of a lifetime over the weekend after he reeled in a large hammerhead shark.
Fisherman Poco Cedillo reeled in the 14-foot shark on Saturday afternoon while fishing at Padre Island National Seashore.
Cedillo says he caught it with the intuitions of returning it to the ocean but that did not quite work out as planned.
The fisherman took photos of what he says was his largest catch ever and posted them online.
Cedillo says the shark started dying before the catch and release effort was complete.
The fisherman attempted to revive the sea creature by throwing him back in the water, unfortunately it was too late.
Cedillo did however donate the 400 pounds of shark meat to a homeless shelter.
