LAREDO,Texas (KGNS)- A couple of students at TAMIU found a unique way to educate parents about their developing babies.
Nursing students, Galilea Gaytan and Sabina Pacheco wrote and illustrated books that teach soon to be parents about their developing babies.
This initiative is part of a class that is focused on finding ways to improve the community.
The books are full of illustrations that explore different themes about child development.
Their books filled the shelves of Doctor Dagoberto Gonzalez practice.
The director of the service learning program Dr. Marcela Uribe, hopes the books will promote literacy from the beginning of life.
Their mission to promote literacy is effective, as studies have shown that babies respond positively to being read too while they're in the womb.
