Teen suspect dead after high speed chase with police

DALLAS, TX (CNN) - A 15-year-old in Texas who was allegedly beating his mother with a baseball bat is dead after he led Dallas police on a high speed chase and crashed into a truck.

Officials say the incident started on Wednesday at around 2:45 p.m. when officers were called out to a domestic disturbance in the 100 block of S. Fifth Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 40-year-old woman who was bleeding in a parking lot.

According to a preliminary investigation, the teen hit his mother in the head with a baseball bat several times.

The teen then got in a car and fled the scene, leading police officers on a high speed chase on State Highway 78.

Officers followed and found the teen’s car wedged under a truck that was carrying portable bathrooms.

The teen was pronounced dead at the scene; meanwhile, the mother was taken to a local hospital in critical condition.
