Tennis Association holds tournament for visually impaired

LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - The Laredo Tennis Association held its Adaptive Tennis Program over the weekend.

Organizers of the event decided to create a level playing field with some volunteers and local athletes.

Volunteers played tennis blindfolded as they went head-to-head with individuals who are legally blind or visually impaired.

Volunteers wore special goggles while playing with a ball that jingles.

Organizers say it’s a great event to offer recreational activities to those who cannot see.

The athletes were the recipients of the David Montes Inspiration Award in the 2017 Latin American International Sports Hall of Fame Class.
