LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - An organization that helps students achieve their dreams of obtaining a college education has chosen its keynote speaker for its upcoming fundraising event.

The Stars Scholarship Fund has chosen President Trump’s former press secretary Sean Spicer as the speaker for its annual extravaganza.

Spicer was named the White House press secretary back in December 22nd of 2016 and resigned on July 21st, 2017.

Organizers say this will be a very informative and entertaining event that will go to a great cause.

Steve La Mantia of L&F Distributors says, “I think you need to go into it with an open mind, and hopefully he'll bring some information and some stories about the White House that you wouldn't normally hear. No matter what your political affiliation is.”

The event will mark the 16th anniversary of the Stars For Scholarships Extravaganza.

The event will take place at the Laredo Country Club on October 16th.
