LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- A popular website has recently placed Laredo among the unhealthiest cities to live in.
The report is based on medical, nutrition, exercise, and environment.
A report by Wallethub ranks Laredo 2nd to last on a list of the 'healthiest places to live in the U.S.
174 cities were compared in the report, including the 150 most populated in the nation.
There were four key dimensions considered in the study, health care, food, fitness, and green space.
Dr. Hector González Director of the City of Laredo Health Department says this study uses different standards and indicators that are not scientific.
The Health Department uses the state and national City-County Health Rankings, and the latest findings place Webb County in the middle of the 254 counties in Texas.
Dr. Gonzalez still says there is room for improvement. The City of Laredo points to exercise programs and promotions like the Mayor's Challenge, Walk With A Doc, and the addition of trails as ways to encourage the community to become more physically active.
