LAREDO, TX (KGNS) - A group of local students at Cigarroa High School are whipping up some good eats and winning state competitions in the process.
The “La Cocinita” program is leaving its mark in cooking competitions as students test out their ideas and provide additional options while improving menu selections.
The Cigarroa students won the Iron Chef Award three years in a row, beating three other LISD schools.
The program is a part of the Career Technical Education program which allows students to get some real hands on experiencing while also providing catering to the school board and community events.
Students from different backgrounds get involved in the program to learn the culinary arts; a skill that some say they will need for when they go off to college.
Congratulations to these students and good luck on their future endeavors!
