LAREDO,Texas(KGNS)- Senator Judith Zaffirini pre-files 32 bills for the 2019 legislative session.
Of the 32 bills, six relate to higher education, four relate to public education, and two focus on health and human services.
We highlighted a few that stood out to us.
Senate Bill 32 would establish tuition-free public higher education for Texas students whose annual household incomes are less than $100 thousand dollars.
Senate Bill 53, would require, to the extent resources allow, 9-1-1 services to accept text messages.
Senate Bill 43, would prohibit a person from using a cell phone without a hands-free device while driving a vehicle.
Senate Bill 44, would prohibit a state employee from using a cell phone without a hands-free device while driving a state-owned vehicle.
And Senate Bill 61, would exempt gun safes, trigger locks, and other safe-storage equipment from sales tax.
