Panelists discuss state’s oil and gas industry impact on area during South Texas Energy Impact: Laredo Conference

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - On Thursday, a roundtable discussion highlighted the state’s oil and natural gas industry’s impact on south Texas, including Laredo and Webb County.

The South Texas Energy Impact: Laredo Conference brought scholars, industry experts, and community leaders together for a few hours at TAMIU.

Among the topics discussed included the latest trends, challenges, and opportunities in the Texas energy sector.

The conference gave panelists a chance to emphasize the future of natural gas and the area’s role in filling that need.

Texas Oil and Gas Association President Todd Staples says, “It’s very important to our future. Many people are talking about energy transition today, [but] it really is about energy plus. Oil and gas plus hydrogen, oil and gas plus biofuels, and many other types of renewables will be part of our energy future.”
