LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo Heat (8-1-0) defeated Cruz Azul U-21 squad in a match that ended 3-3 after 90 minutes and 7-6 in penalty kicks.

The Heat would apply pressure from the opening kick and find a few shots straight to the goal. Adam Knutson opened up the scoring early on but the Mexican squad would respond and tie the score at one goal a piece.

Before the end of the first half Laredo would find a goal to break the dead-lock via former “Celeste” Sergio Meza.

La Maquina would find two goals in the second half and it seemed like the Heat would drop their second match in consecutive fashion. Laredo would create chances to equalize with several coming close to finding the back of the net.

It would not be until late in the match when a header from Ahinga Selemani would finally be slotted home to equalize for a third time. The Heat would later win it via the shoot out.

The Gateway Cities Soccer Franchise will take on the current Fourth Place squad in the Lone Star Division The Twin City Toucans on Thursday Night at 7:45 PM at P-E-G Energy stadium.
