Climber dies in 300-foot fall on Mount Hood, sheriff’s office says

CLACKAMAS COUNTY Ore. (KPTV/Gray News) – A climber died Sunday after falling while scaling Mount Hood, the highest mountain in the state.
The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office said search-and-rescue teams were sent to Mount Hood just before 10 a.m.
The sheriff’s office said it received calls from witnesses who reported seeing a climber fall about 300 feet near Devil’s Kitchen.

Rescuers said the climber was found dead, and crews worked to recover the body.
The sheriff’s office said no further information on the climber will be released until their family has been notified.
