Two men charged after Laredo crash leads to kidnapping

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo police say officers were called around 3:33 a.m. on Monday, June 15 to the 200 block of North U.S. Highway 83 after a report that a man was being held against his will.

Investigators said a vehicle crash led to a violent confrontation in which the victim was assaulted, robbed of his wallet, and forced into his own Kia Telluride. Police said the suspects then drove him to another location against his will.

Authorities said the victim was able to contact police using his smartwatch. He was later taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police arrested Javier De Leon, 59, and John Daniel Pavon, 39. They are charged with kidnapping (second-degree felony), unauthorized use of a motor vehicle (state jail felony), assault (Class A), and theft from a person (state jail felony).
