2-year-old dies after being found unresponsive in pool

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC/Gray News) - A 2-year-old girl has died after being found unresponsive in an outdoor pool, authorities said.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the toddler fell into the pool Sunday and was submerged for an undetermined amount of time before family members found her and began life-saving measures.

Emergency crews were dispatched around 2:25 p.m. Sunday to a home on Maysville Road. The child was airlifted to the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, where she was later pronounced dead.

Deputies initially reported the child was unresponsive when emergency medical services arrived.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident.
