In a post on Truth Social this week, Trump wrote, “Annie ‘Tr*nnie’ Andrews is running against our wonderful Darline Graham for the Senate in South Carolina.”

Trump used the slur three times in referring to Andrews, adding that Andrews was “in favor of transgender for everyone” and that she was “not for South Carolina.”

Andrews, who is a pediatrician, has previously stated that she supports transgender children and is a supporter of gender-affirming care.

The Senate candidate also said that she does not think that biological men should play in women’s sports, while not supporting gender surgery when it comes to minors.

Trump called Darline Graham, who is running against Andrews as the Republican candidate following the death of her brother, Lindsey Graham, “a high-quality person” who has his “complete and total endorsement.”

Andrews did not immediately address Trump’s comments directly, but posted on Monday that she is in the Senate race to fight for her patients, her children and South Carolina.

Former South Carolina Gov. David Beasley called Trump’s comments “abhorrent,” saying that while South Carolinians can disagree, they can do so civilly.
