KGNS Honors: Retired Laredo teacher honored for decades of service

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Maria Elena Hopkins is being recognized as part of this month’s KGNS Plus Honors ceremony for her decades of service to the Laredo community.

Hopkins spent 30 years as an educator. She now continues her work through the Laredo Area Retired School Employee Association, supporting scholarships, book donations and retired teachers.

Hopkins said she hopes her legacy of giving back carries on.

“This honor, I feel like it’s... I’m the one here, but it really belongs to all our members. Wow, it’s just truly amazing how an awesome organization LARSEA is. And that’s why I’m glad that I got this little platform to showcase how amazing they are!” Hopkins said.
