Laredo police share Halloween safety tips ahead of holiday weekend
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo police are reminding the public to celebrate responsibly this Halloween, with warnings about impaired driving, distracted driving and keeping children safe around potentially dangerous treats.
Investigator Joey Baeza with the Laredo Police Department says one of the biggest concerns is people driving under the influence, urging partygoers to make sure no one leaves impaired.
“It’s not fair that they’re going to hurt somebody, they’re going to hurt themselves. Don’t let anybody leave inebriated,” Baeza said.
Baeza also urges parents to keep a close eye on Halloween candy and edible products that may resemble regular candy, warning that these items can pose a danger to children.
Other safety reminders include being mindful of loud music complaints, avoiding distracted driving, and never allowing children to ride in the back of pickup trucks.
