LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo Animal Care Services (LACS) is looking for a forever home for Scrappy, a 3-month-old terrier mix.

Deidra Hernandez with LACS said Scrappy is calm and ready for a family.

“I think he’d be the perfect little lap dog, watching TV, just having a buddy here with you,” Hernandez said.

Scrappy is up to date on his vaccinations. While he is currently too young for spay and neuter surgery, the procedure is included with the adoption.

“But we’ll set you up with the appointment when to bring him back. And after that, he’s good to go,” Hernandez said.

November adoption discounts and foster needs

November is National Senior Pet Month, and LACS is waiving adoption fees for all senior dogs and cats age 6 and older throughout the month.

For all other shelter pets, including Scrappy, adoption fees are $11 and cover vaccinations, a microchip, and spay or neuter surgery.

The shelter is also seeking volunteers and foster homes to expand its support network, especially for its youngest rescues.

“Always looking for fosters to grow our foster network whenever we get neonatals, which are bottle babies, where we need help with taking care of newborn kittens or puppies,” Hernandez said.

LACS is also preparing for its third annual Paws and Thanks Thanksgiving event. The shelter will announce event details on its Facebook and Instagram pages.
