The shutdown is affecting certain operations at CBP and Border Patrol.

All non-essential personal did spend the day furloughed; however, the problems in Washington are not impacting law enforcement operations.

In a statement from Border Patrol, they say, “The dedicated men and women of the Laredo Sector Border Patrol will continue to secure the border and keep the Laredo and surrounding communities safe. Border Patrol agents are considered mission essential for national security purposes and will continue to perform enforcement duties during the government shutdown.”

Now that congress has agreed on a temporary fix, all affected personnel will be returning to their regular schedules.
