UISD Marching Band Competition

It was the battle of the bands -- the marching bands that is.

United ISD held their annual marching band competition at the Student Activity Complex Saturday evening. All local high schools bands came out to showcase what they've been working on since the summer. Directors view this as a way to help them gauge where their bands are at before they head into UIL.

Joshua Martinez, Alexander High School Band Director, says, "It's a great place to check and see where they're excelling, where we need to continue working, and it's all towards the big competition that's going to be happening for UIL contest here in the next coming weeks."

Bands were judged not only on their musical performance but also on their technical marching skills. Each school selected a theme that was incorporated into their music, color guard costumes, and props.
