Laredo water main break causes low pressure, outages across city
LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - City of Laredo Utilities crews worked through the night July 1 to repair a break on a 36-inch water transmission line that supplies the Lyon Water Tanks.
The break has been repaired, but the city said restoring full water service is taking longer than expected because the Lyon Tanks must refill before normal water pressure can return throughout the system. High water demand has slowed the refill process.
Some neighborhoods regained water service overnight, while others may still be experiencing low water pressure or no water at all, the city said.
Crews are working to bring the Lyon Tanks back online. The city said that the process could take five to eight hours and that service will continue to improve as the system stabilizes.
The city said crews are continuing to monitor the system as service is restored.
