74-year-old man in wheelchair hit, killed by pickup truck while using crosswalk

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KPTV/Gray News) - A 74-year-old man in Washington died after being hit by a pickup truck Tuesday night.

At about 7:45 p.m., officers responded to South Andresen Road and MacArthur Boulevard for reports of a crash involving a pedestrian, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Police said a driver in a pickup truck had stopped at the stop sign and was proceeding through the intersection when he hit a man in a wheelchair who had entered the crosswalk.

The victim was taken to a hospital, where he later died. His name has not yet been released.

The pickup truck driver stayed at the scene and was cooperative with the investigation. Police said there were no signs of impairment.

The investigation is ongoing, and no other details were released.
