LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo police have identified a 17-year-old suspect after a mail carrier was targeted in a paintball shooting in April.

Officers responded to a call at the U.S. Postal Service on East Del Mar Boulevard on April 28. A mail carrier told police that on April 23, she was driving through the 4100 block of Geronimo Drive when she heard three loud bangs and saw a black sport utility vehicle speeding off in the opposite direction. She later found three paintball stains on the USPS truck.

The Laredo Police Department’s General Investigations Unit took over the case. Surveillance video provided by a federal postal inspector showed that the possible suspect vehicle was a black Nissan Rogue.

After further investigation, police identified the suspect as Antonio Salazar IV, 17.

On Sept. 2, Salazar was served with a warrant for assault on a public servant, a third-degree felony, police said.

The case remains under investigation.
