Laredo mother charged after child found wandering alone

LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - A Laredo mother is facing charges after a stranger found her six-year-old son wandering alone in the street, police said.

Police said a Good Samaritan spotted the boy, who is nonverbal and has special needs, walking in the roadway near the 100 block of Village Boulevard Monday morning, Sept. 7.

The man got the child to safety and called officers, police said.

Investigators traced the boy home and said they found unsafe, unsanitary conditions and drug paraphernalia within reach of the children.

Samantha Asanet Aguilar, 34, was arrested and charged with abandoning/endangering a child with intent to return.

Authorities also removed the boy’s three siblings from the home. All four children are now with a relative, police said.
